  • I had high expectations about going to REI to buy a mountain bike but it was a big disappointment. I walked in, saw suspended bikes in the ceiling, other bikes all protected by a cable (inside the store!) meaning you cannot take a bike and seat on it to try it on, and no employee who appeared to care. I walked out without even being approached by any employee, and went to buy a bike somewhere else. Dick's Sporting goods is the same by the way. Better go with a smaller store.
