  • So, where do I begin. Clean office, pleasant staff (at the beginning), no waiting and a sweet female dentist. I gave a very positive "Wow" until the temporary fix came off in less than 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours. I wasn't eating, I wasn't even talking. It just POP!ed right off. To be more precise, the female dentist had her assistant do the job and that lasted less than 2 hours. Nobody goes to a dentist and willingly pays for a temporary fix that doesn't even last a day. But this particular one simply said over the phone via her receptionist, "We told you it might not last long". I was a sweet patient in there, and she was a sweet dentist who seemed to care. Everyone in the office, especially her assistant, was nice and sweet. But when her job that I paid for fell off, the impression I got from them was more like "Talk to my hands", so here I am, talking to Yelp instead. Goodyear Smiles D&O wasn't my choice but was recommended by my insurance company. I recently moved to the US. To see my dentist of the last 12 years, I'd have to get on a 12-hour flight across the ocean. That won't happen till April or May, so I called him to get his opinions. He came to the phone and listened to me, and told me what could possibly be done, unlike the female dentist from Goodyear Smiles. When I brought his suggestion up to her attention (again, via the receptionist), all I got was "We don't do that." I tried to understand that "the suggestion" might be against her policy, or belief or something, but it still made me think that this was all about $$ after all. She gave me an option which was going to cost me over 5K. I said I wanted to talk to my husband, discuss my options further with my primary dentist at home, and think about this. So, she had her assistant bond my tooth temporarily in the meantime, which didn't even last a day. That, to me, was like "See? This will happen again unless you pay 5K and get it permanently fixed now, ASAP!" or "I give you 2 hours to consider this 5K option. Your time is over when the temp fix comes off!" I am glad I didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for it... At this point, I was feeling so blue and depressed. I refused to deal with them anymore and had my husband make the phone calls. She was going to re-do the temporary fix for free of charge. Or not. I don't remember. She wasn't going to fix it the way my dentist suggested. She was going to try the same thing they had done and failed before, so I got on Yelp and looked for *someone else. *And that someone else is hands down the best dentist ever, with the best staff in his office. Once they learn that you are leaving them, they stop being nice and helpful to you. They actually do sound very annoyed when you call them to ask questions. I hope, one day, they will realize we do not have to go to them. We have choices. We have other options. We can go to someone else who'd listen and respect our needs as well as our financial situations. And the truth is that my new dentist will give me a 3-year plan to fix my teeth, which will cost 5 times more than what's mentioned above. But I'd still go to him because his interest in my satisfaction is genuine, his approach isn't "Take it or leave it", he did the work with his assistant by his side, to make sure it is up to his standard. And his temporary fix is still there, sound and strong. I say, they might be OK for quick routine cleaning, but definitely not for serious work.
