| - Hubbard has some fun options for breakfast or lunch. This is the non-hippy, Westside version of Monty's Blue plate, the beefy brother (although this establishment has vegetarian options, vegans should stick to Monty's).
First, they kept the dill pickle version of the reuben sauce (shame on Monty's for that sweet pickle junk): so lovers of reuben's (tofu, turkey, or pastrami) this is the place to be! PS. they have all 3 "meat" options here - hallelujah!
Second, can anyone scream WAFFLE FRIES?!?!?!? GET IT!
Third, they got cooks in the kitchen who truly understand South-of-the-Border breakfast options.... they are all good (southwest Eggs Bene - uses cornbread vs english muffin, get a side of green and/or red salsa to top it off; Huevos Rancheros; Breakfast Quesadilla)
Fourth, breakfast club is pretty decent, get it with a poached egg and goo ensues!
Fifth, see first - Reuben with Turkey - OMG
Sixth, burgers, (I sub turkey for beef, but it's still great)
Seventh, turkey dinner anytime.... GRAVY? moist turkey? home-made mashed potatoes with lumps? cranberry sauce with little cranberry bodies? oh yes, thank you, please and double please!
Eighth, on Saturdays - Fried Chicken - not as salty (nor garlicky) as I like it, but home-cookin and hits the spot.
Ninth, Fried Fish on Friday - same as chicken, not as salty, but hits the spot. Nothing frilly (no beer battered), but it's a good clean fish fry, with fixin's.
Tenth, PIE PIE PIE PIE PIE PIE PIE PIE
Eleventh, COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE
Twelfth, other people order the salads. With all the above options, I never understand it, but they must be crowd-pleasers. They are rich and FULL, big bowls. Maybe someday, that salmon one looks yummy.
Alas, the drawback is alcohol. You'd think the food fight group would be wild about alcohol here, but it's a simple, modest beer selection only. Alcohol is NOT the center piece; just good ol' home cookin'.
