  • Well, my second visit wasn't as impressive as the first. My Mom and I each decided to try their facial treatment (Mukha Abhyanga). I added on their Pedi Karma, and she added on a mini third eye oil treatment. Since I'd been before, and knew the copious amounts of oil used in the Ayurvedic procedures, I came prepared with two towels to wrap our hair in for the ride home. Although they're in a new location now, parking was still very easy and the building easy to find. We were warmly greeted, offered tea, and filled out our forms. We changed into our robes, and relaxed in the back lounge while waiting for the services. The actual service rooms are quite nice, with lovely ceilings to look up at, Indian music playing, and soft lighting. Unfortunately, I wasn't really impressed with the either of the treatments I received. The majority of the facial treatment was spent massaging oil into my head and hair. My skin was never closely examined, and we never discussed what type of skin issues I might have. The "steam" portion of the facial consisted of a cold towel being draped on my face for a little bit. There were no extractions, no exfoliation. It was a bummer. The pedi portion was disappointing too. This is probably going to sound weird, but the technique of my therapist/technician/practitioner seemed purposeless. Throughout both services. It's not just that the applied force was weak, but her touch just wasn't...focused. It was limp and wilted. Basically just like someone aimlessly and gently rubbing your feet or face. Hell, I can get my husband to give me a lackluster foot rub for free. We ended with eating a traditional lentil soup in the lounge, wrapped our hair up, paid, and went home. It was close to $200 per person in the end. It just didn't feel worth it this time. I had such a good experience the first time, that I will likely try them again, but I'll request a different person and will steer clear of the Mukha Abhyanga facial treatment. An average 3.5 star rating (my initial 5 star plus this 2 star) is about right.
