  • My 10 year old daughter found a $1 bill at this store on the floor. She really was excited and wanted to keep it (she is trying to earn money to donate to a dog rescue) but thought she should tell the store in case someone else lost their $1. The store took the dollar from her and put it in as a donation to the store. They never offered to let her keep it or ask if they could keep it or anything similar. They then said, "Thanks for letting us know." Right after, they said, "Would you like to donate a dollar to our program." I was so irritated and annoyed that I replied, "I just did!" Don't ever ask me to donate extra again... as far as I'm concerned anyplace that does that to a kid (especially one that is honest and trying to do the right thing) will not receive any extra donations from me again. That $1 that they took from my kid will turn into multiple dollars not donated to them again. Really poor ethics. She found money once before at a gas station and it was literally on the counter. She asked the gas station if it was theirs or if it belonged to someone so that she could give it to where it belonged. The gas station was wonderful and said that it wasn't theirs and that she was allowed to keep it. I'm glad some places respect an honest kid.
