This is the zoo that I came to as a child. At the same time, it's not the same because there are so many changes and improvements. Most of the enclosures are spacious for the animals. They really try to bring in elements from the animals' real habitats. The animals all look well cared for. If you go at the right time, you can watch feeding times or animal training.
It's a free zoo that has many areas for picnic lunches, café purchases, and rest stops. The gift shop is nice and all the profits go to the zoo. There are several parking lots on either side of the zoo. Or street parking if it overflows on a busy weekend.
It's a zoo in flux so some exhibits are empty or being set up for a new animal. The Tiger enclosure had the Lioness there. But as the zoo grows, there are always little things like that. For a free zoo, it's a great zoo. I donate to the zoo anytime I can.
