I like The Beat and have been here a few times over the years but much more often now that it's close to my place. Small menu with a good selection of food, coffee drinks and a pretty nice beer selection. In a city where nearly everything is commercialized crap, I welcome places like this that are a little more, well let's say rustic, as opposed to staged corporate decor. I wish places like this were scattered about the valley so I could stop into them during my daily travels. I find it funny some of the reviews knocking the place for having people on laptops yet those same reviewers can be spotted at the stereotypical corporate coffee houses pretending to work hours on end. At least with the Beat I've never had a problem finding a seat. (Rhyme intended). I also prefer the music here as opposed to the Sheryl Crow type tunes you hear at the other guys.
