| - I received my PPL in 1989 when I was 19 years old. With a loss of an instrumental family member in my new aviation interest and work, marriage, children and what life throws at people, I had to stop flying altogether. Finally in November 2016, time and work allowed me the time get current and rekindle my inner aviation enthusiasm. After a few unsuccessful attempts to regularly schedule instruction with some flight school instructors in the Las Vegas area, as they would cancel last minute with personal issues, I began investigating other options.
Thankfully I was introduced to Ernie Swallie (Owner of Light Sport Aviation). Upon meeting Ernie, I knew immediately this was the instructor for me, as he easily explained the process of how he teaches new students and brings private pilots back up to speed and checks them out. I was not only impressed with his knowledge of aviation, teaching method, but his relaxed calm demeanor. Sure, there are many knowledgeable flight instructors out there, but more importantly Ernie's ability to put a student at ease and enjoy what they are doing. I haven't flown in 31 years, so a lot has changed in regards to rules and regulations, so I need an instructor with the patience to explain airspace's and radio communications over and over to me..LOL
The airplane! Well the Evektor Sportstar Max. This plane is amazing fun to fly! If you are new to flying or just coming back, you may know, most instruction begins in the standard Cessna 152 0r 172. Nothing against these aircraft, but they are sleds compared to the Evektor! The Evektor is real flying in my opinion! The nimble easy controls and canopy view really increases the experience 10 fold for me.
The airplane is kept in a beautiful hangar and is kept in top flying condition by Ernie the owner of LIght Sport Aviation personally, so you can rest assured it will always be ready to go! Access to hangar is provided by a immaculate maintained golf cart for transport to and from the hangar, giving you a real personal feeling of having your own hangar and plane without the cost. (Great Experience) The pricing for rental of this aircraft beats any rate I have ever found in the Las Vegas area. Combine the rental with the very reasonable instruction rate, you will discover quickly, Light Sport Aviation in the hidden gem of flight training in Las Vegas!
Since my first introduction to Ernie and Light Sport Aviation, I have since been checked out in the Evektor and regularly enjoy logging flight time and taking family and friends for rides as long as weather permits. The Light Sport Aviation is run amazing smooth and easily available to book ahead of time. If you are looking becoming a pilot or just get current, this is the flight school for you! Great people, great aircraft and the people you will meet along the way is unbelievable! Don't procrastinate, book with Light Sport today! You won't regret it!
