In late November 2016 I had extensive seal leakage repair work done to our 2007 Ford Escape. We winter in Las Vegas and on our return to Iowa in the Spring the Check Engine light came on. The vehicle was drive-able and I took it to our local Ford Service for diagnosis. They told me it was the oxygen sensor and that the cable serving it had been pinched during some previous work in the engine compartment. Because the work at Pep Boys was the only work on the engine beyond routine oil changes since we bought the car 10 years earlier I suspected that Pep Boys was responsible. After on-line and telephone contacts they agreed to extend the warranty beyond the one year since the nearest Pep Boys to our home in Iowa is some 200+ miles. When we returned to Las Vegas this year I took the vehicle to Pep Boys and made an appointment for the warranty inspection. At the inspection it was determined that the cable was frayed and while not confirming responsibility, they repaired the cable, the Check Engine light was extinguished and has remained so since the repair. There was no charge for the repair. I was bummed out that I had to go through all this in the first place. But Pep Boys stood by their warranty, extended its duration, and made the repairs when we could bring the vehicle in.
