  • Unfortunately, my third time back left me feeling nearly the same as I did after our first experience there. This time, I went with my work group as a team building activity. Because of how well their other rooms were done, I recommended this place to my boss and thought my co-workers and I would have a good time. We have a team of 9 but the room we wanted to do (X-Child) had a capacity of 8. However, their FAQ on their website indicated that they can accommodate extra people. But when my boss contacted them to make the reservation, he was told we couldn't do that room with 9 people and was told we had to do The Cell instead. He said the person he spoke with (the manager) was not friendly and didn't seem to want to help at all. We, specifically, picked X-Child because no one in our group had done that room before whereas we had people in our group that had done their other rooms. I contacted them via email explaining the situation and asked if they'd reconsider the capacity for X-Child. Amanda (the manager) responded and was very friendly and professional and offered us a couple of options and let us pick what worked best for us. That interaction was very positive. However, it is not a representation at all of the interaction we got in person. When our whole group arrived, the first thing that Amanda said to us was "Who's paying?". Not even a "Hi" or "We're glad you chose us to have your team event." or any kind of salutation. Quite rude. We ended up splitting our team into two groups and doing two separate rooms. X-Child was a very well-done room but, again, the interactions with the game master were unpleasant. She (Amanda) does not seem like she enjoys her job and/or interacting with people. After the room was over and she walked us thru the rest of what we didn't get, she was very condescending and talked to us like we're stupid. I get that she knows these rooms inside and out so everything probably seems really simple to her but she needs to understand that it's our first time experiencing the rooms and puzzles so it doesn't seem as easy to us and there's no reason to talk down to us for it. After speaking with the other half of my work group about the room they did and their experience they, too, had similar things to say. The room (Cult of Mithras) was fun but the game master was rude when delivering any clues and just not friendly at all. I've read nearly all of the other reviews on this place and they are pretty much all positive. I don't understand how I am the only one having these negative interactions when I go there. Other reviews talk about the owner and how nice he is but I have never met or talked to the owner. Any interaction I've ever had here has always been with Amanda. She's the one that's always answered any emails I sent and she's the one that's always working the three times I've been there. So I'm not really sure what to make of the other reviews compared to mine. It's really a shame that the customer service experience always seems to be unpleasant because their rooms are excellent.
