| - This place is pretty cool and nerdy. It was my first time here with a friend, and I had a good time. Apparently they do themed nights, and tonight was pirate themed. There were tons of cosplayers, and even a pirate photo shoot wedding officiated by Jack Sparrow.
I really enjoyed the decor. There's an R2-D2 replica, Hylian shield, Tardis, and other nerdy/geeky paraphernalia decorating the place. There's also comfy couches/chairs where you can lounge around and people watch. There's about 4-5 (or maybe more) TV screens. Tonight they were playing Pirates of the Caribbean.
For someone who's a little more introverted like me, it's pretty awesome because you can just sit back and take in everything around you without necessarily having to socialize. It does tend to get pretty loud later on (at least on Friday night) - around 9:30 the place was pretty packed. You can't really hear what the people around you are saying.
One of the staff members - James - came by to sit and chat with us, which I thought was pretty cool. He told us about the various events coming up, and encouraged us to make ourselves at home. He informed us there's a cabinet near the front filled with tons of board games that we're free to take out and play. I enjoyed how personable the staff seemed to be.
My only complaint are the drink prices. $10 seems like a lot for Vegas. But, it is a trendy spot, so I guess that's to be expected. There's a 20% off deal if you check in on Yelp, so that's good to know, especially if you're a cosplayer. Apparently cosplayers always get a 20% discount (according to the Yelp check in text).
All in all, a good time and worth checking out if you're into cosplay or nerdy/geeky pop culture.
