Blume was the florist for my friend's wedding. I was the Maid of Honor and highly involved in the wedding planning process. When we went to the floral appointment we made it very clear what our vision for the bouquets and boutonnieres was. We showed photos, used descriptive words, gave a clear color pallet, and even listed flowers we would prefer. The meeting felt a little disjointed and unclear to me, but I thought we had adequately expressed both what we did and did not want the bouquets and boutonnieres to look like.
I was appalled when we were handed our bouquets on the wedding day. It was as if she didn't listen to a thing we had said and instead went with her own plan and used flowers we specifically asked her not to use. The bouquets were lovely but they were not what we had asked for and consequently didn't match our dresses at all. I was even more frustrated when we saw the boutonnieres for the groomsmen. We made it abundantly clear that we did NOT want Lavender as it would clash with their suits. But lo and behold they were all pinned with Lavender roses.
Though I am sure the quality of work was fine, it just did not fit what the bride had specifically asked for and to me that is inexcusable. I work in the events industry and I have never felt so confused and ignored by a florist. I don't know where the communication went wrong or at what point Blume thought it would be best to ignore the bride's wishes and just do whatever they wanted, but it was a shocking failure on their part.
