  • I've been hearing the buzz about BabyStacks forever, and hadn't checked it out because I'm not big on traditional breakfast food for breakfast and very rarely indulge in pancakes etc. Today, I was driving around and saw that they are very close to my home in the old Becker's Steakhouse center. It was 1:30 and I walked in, was greeted and led to a table and told my server would be right with me. A couple was enjoying huge platters of pancakes and what looked like French Toast nearby. The mood was livened by reggae music playing. My trepidation about arriving 30 minutes prior to closing was alleviated straightaway by the cheerful server. She was more than happy to suggest the Turkey & Avocado sandwich when I said I was debating that or salad. I opted for the $1 add on fruit salad in lieu of a side salad whose dressings all sounded heavy to me, and I'm not sure if fries were an option, but I avoid them. My sandwich was huge. Hard to get my mouth around huge. Thick slices of toasted wheat bread housed a generous portion of very good turkey, fresh avocado slices and tomatoes, and lots of iceberg. It was so large I took half to go along with half of my fruit salad which contained strawberries, melon, grapes, blueberries and pineapple. I made the oversight of failing to request mustard or to put mayo on the side, so it contained quite a bit of mayo (unnecessary because the turkey was moist and avocado only added to that) Chatted with some of the staff who were very sweet, and in no way felt rushed so close to closing time. I'll definitely be back to try some other items and bring my chocolate lover friends in for those red velvet pancakes. Some of the crepes and other pancakes sound promising. There was cute and cheery decor and the place was clean and inviting. After reading of long lines, guess I lucked out taking a chance. For 11$ + 5& tip because my waitress was just so sweet talking about explaining skype to her grandma in Hawaii, I enjoyed a lovely lunch & dinner later on. Glad to have finally discovered this neighborhood gem and look forward to supporting a charming local business.
