| - What a horrible experience; especially as a first time home buyer. From the start of my experience I always felt like it was all about making a profit rather than looking out for my best interest as a buyer and his client. The best part of this experience was when we looked at a foreclosure we were interested in and said we wanted to put in an offer. Andrew claimed that if we did not offer at least the asking price (176,000) or higher "it was a waste of time." He then went on to unprofessionally say, "I can write up the offer for $1 if you want, but you would be wasting your time." Ok, well that place just ended up selling for $13,000 less than the asking price! As a first time buyer I felt that it was important to work with someone who I could trust.
During a different occasion, one of HIS agents (we really liked this agent) had shown us another place we thought we might have been interested in. Andrew told us to wait on that offer until he showed us another property. I didn't think much of it until a few days later I mentioned that other property (we saw with the other agent) to Andrew and he began to freak out, "Are you seeing houses with other agents!?!?" Uhhh, "no" It was his own agent and he must've forgotten that we saw that property with him. When I explained it to Andrew, his response was "Ok, good because he would've been in a lot of trouble if he was showing houses without my permission!" Umm, ok, so unprofessional. Was this because he didn't want to split the commission with his own agent?
In the end, I wanted to part ways since this whole situation didn't seem to be working out. I asked to be released from the "Broker-Buyer" agreement (that I stupidly didn't take home to read myself and instead signed so I could put my offer in right away on one particular place [since he would only do it if I signed the papers]. While going through those papers Andrew was sure to mention that "You can fire me at any time but if you end up buying this PARTICULAR PROPERTY within 180 he would get commission." Well, just that particular property sounded like no big deal. Little did I know until later that it mentions on the top of the page I am stuck with his company on ANY property until the end of May) that I am stuck in for months because I know that Andrew is not looking out for my best interests. Unfortunately, surprise surprise the only way out of this agreement would be if he got a referral fee rather than just letting us out (good customer service). I guess we will wait months for the contract to expire rather than give him a dime. The worst part is he only showed us a total of THREE houses, yes THREE. Not months of searching, showing us tons of houses; nope! There I would not recommend him to anyone I know, EVER!!Less
