  • I came into this repair shop to get a complete diagnosis of my car since I had not known what was wrong with it. DJ insisted that my front shocks and struts needed to be replaced. I was quoted close to 800$ for the replacement - expensive and quite overpriced. Not even one week into the repair - while driving, my car stopped in the middle of the road. Considering DJ's automotive was the last place I had my car repaired, I had my vehicle towed to his shop. DJ informed me that the clip on my axel had disintegrated and needed to be replaced. I wasn't told or quoted any price on the replacement of this clip over the phone, so when I came to pick up my vehicle, I see a charge of almost 100$ just for a clip that didn't even cost him 10$. Of course I spoke to DJ because I was caught by surprise by the ridiculous amount of money I was being charged for a problem which should've been caught by him when I had first brought in my vehicle for diagnostics. His response: "anything could go wrong with a car with such high mileage" ... is this a joke? What is the purpose of a complete diagnostic of one's vehicle? It's not like the axel clip disintegrated yesterday, and considering he replaced my shocks and struts on my front wheels, he should've even caught the mistake then. Not only did I have to go through the inconvenience of getting my car towed, but I also had to pay an extra amount of money for the towing itself. I drive back and forth to Chicago often and this could've happened to me on the highway, and rather than apologizing for his lack of competency, he proceeded to tell me that any car with high miles can have an issue as such occur? Not to mention that he charged me almost 100$ for a 10$ clip on top of the 800$ worth of services I had already gotten done from him. I came here because I read decent customer reviews on this repair shop, but my experience has led me to believe otherwise and that it could be family members and people that are known to him that are writing these biased reviews. There's already one on Yelp which was written by his former employee. I felt completely ripped off here and will not be returning again.
