  • Not consumer-friendly. ****Read the fine print in the contract.**** I had approached TDS regarding home energy improvements since they were reputable in Madison, WI and I had heard positive things. After getting initial estimates I was asked to sign a 4 page contract before work could be scheduled; having a written agreement seemed reasonable. Although this was a relatively low dollar project, I decided to review the contract with my attorney who specializes in this area. Almost all of the liability is pushed to the home owner. Since I was otherwise pleased with TDS to this point, we made a handful of small proposed changes to the contract that would have yielded a more balanced agreement. TDS was unwilling to consider any changes to its contract and declined the project outright. The message here is that TDS Custom Construction will take your money and do your project but only under their rigid terms. Contracts have to take the interests of both parties into account in order to yield mutually-positive end results.
