I probably shouldn't write this whilst I'm still SO angry but Yelp just gave me the option of reviewing straight from my app (thanks yelp!) so here it is!
I am as disappointed as I can be with a business.
I didn't even get to eat any pie!
I called yesterday to specifically order an Apple Cinnamon pie after reading such great reviews.
This was to be the dish I was bringing to Thanksgiving dinner so extremely important & time sensitive - which is why I was SO clear with my questions.
The man I spoke to on the phone was as nice as can be, answering my questions thoroughly & assuring me that he would reserve me the pie, write my name on the box & that it would be no problem at all for me to pick it up at 8pm as they close at 9pm.
I live downtown so it takes around an hour each way to journey to the Pie Shack.
You can imagine the shock & horror (swiftly followed by rage) I felt when I arrived early, at 7.30pm, to find the store closed with a sign saying they'd shut early because they'd sold all their pies.
They sold my pie.
My ordered & reserved Thanksgiving pie.
THEY SOLD MY PIE!!!
I am furious that someone would run a business this way.
If you know you are just that popular, either state that you don't take orders or reservations or give the customer the respect of honoring the agreement you make with them. It's as simple as that.
I'd much rather be told "we don't take orders, it's a busy time of year, please come early" than face the utter horror of trekking a 2 hour+ round trip for nothing.
I will be phoning the store tomorrow to lodge a complaint but I do hope I can do it in a decent manner & not just screech "Where's my PIE?!!" down the phone, because that wouldn't be fun for anyone.
My advice to you? Don't ever trust them to honour an order.
The sad part is - I still believe they must be delicious to sell out so early!
