I love Jamerica!
First of all, it's really fun. The decoration is extremely tacky and cheesy to remind you of how Jamaican they are. It really gives you a hole-in-the wall vibe. The staff really gives you a ma and pa family vibe. They're very friendly too!
I got their jambalaya. It's incredibly spicy and delicious if you can handle the heat. I will be coming back for this.
In general, their food seems pricy on the menu, but the portions are stupidly big. You thought Mickey's Dairy Bar scramblers were big? Ha! That's child's play compared to the ox tail special. I'm a 250 lb powerlifter, and I could only eat half of it. Of course, the meal was good too. It was a huge portion of meat with rice and vegetables. Like the staff and atmosphere, I got a very homey, familial vibe from the food.
For some reason, my favorite part was the key lime pie for dessert. You don't want to miss out on this!
Overall, I love Jamerica for the effort that the owners put in to make you feel at home in a restaurant that's so wild and unfamiliar to many American restaurant-goers such as myself. Everything about it just reminds you of home cooking even if home cooking isn't Jamaican food for you. Come hungry and bring some friends to help you finish the huge portions.
