  • The Agora is a Cleveland institution. People have been coming to this venue to see great concerts and events for years and years and years. But...that shows. The building is worn. Dirty. Gritty. A little run down. Hotter than hell when it's warm outside. But still a decent place to see a concert. I saw the Summerland Tour 15 (with American Hi Fi, Toadies, Fuel, and Everclear) on a balmy and rainy Sunday night. I'm not sure if the upper level is always closed or if it was just closed because there weren't that many tickets sold? I was able to easily make my way up near the stage. The acoustics were ok. Not great. I would imagine an empty upper deck and open doors to let out some hot air didn't help with that. I'm deducting 2 stars because of the lack of security at the venue. Granted, these were some older bands playing and people didn't get too out of hand, but a fight broke out in front of me right before the end of the show and there wasn't a security guard to be found. I looked around and didn't see one. Literally not even one. (at other venues, there's at least one burly guy staring at the crowd looking for people causing trouble) Luckily, some other concert goers stepped in to try to diffuse the situation, but I'm not sure what would have happened if those people hadn't done anything? I'd definitely go to see another show at The Agora. Just be advised that you're on your own when it comes to security.
