| - 168 Market is my favorite Asian grocery store. It's closer to my house than the other markets in Chinatown-- though technically, Greenland is even closer, but I prefer this spot because it's cheaper and they have an in-store bakery.
I have yet to try their hot deli section or their seafood/meat section but their produce is cheap and good. My only gripe about it is that a lot of it is pre-bagged so sometimes I end up buying more than I need. They also have a small skincare/personal care section that appears to be mostly Japanese brands.
I can find almost anything I need here for Asian cooking - it's one stop shopping. The only thing I really couldn't find here is Sichuan pepper, ground or whole (nor could I find it at 99 Ranch or International Market, ended up finally locating it at Greenland, it was labeled simply "Chinese pepper").
Their bakery is wonderful - a great selection of buns with different fillings, different kinds of sliced breads, as well as refrigerated roll cakes. I've never had a stale-tasting one, just sweet, dense, and fresh goodness.
Clean, cheap, great selection of stuff - I'll be coming here again and again.
