  • I love this store! I learned to knit here a few years ago, and have been going back ever since. The staff are all amazing - very helpful and patient with newbies. As for the prices, you're always going to find cheaper online, but I've compared their prices to other 'brick and mortar' stores, and they're pretty much the same. The people and the ambience is why this store has such a loyal following among TO knitters. They've recently moved, just a couple of doors down - the store itself is great - bigger - more room for yarn and they even have a sofa in there now! I agree, the S 'n B can be a little intimidating, but I've always found someone to chat with when I've gone. If you're in Toronto - Lettuce Knit is must-see! **Update - June 2014 - I dropped by Lettuce Knit recently - I think this was my first visit since the change in ownership - what a difference - and not for the better. I was looking for a couple of skeins of a specific yarn in a specific colour. Not only did they not know if they carried the yarn, it was like pulling teeth to even be pointed in the right area of the store to have a look for myself. Once I found the yarn I was looking for, I was browsing the selection of knowknit bags, while waiting for the cashier to finish up with another customer. I was rudely informed by the lady sitting at the table (who I wasn't even aware worked there) that they close at 6 - and that she was going to be teaching a class then. This is how you treat customers? I was waiting to pay for my purchase, and looking to add to it, and you are trying to shoo me out the door? How about chatting with me, asking me about the project that I'm working on - maybe invite me to try one of their classes? Honey - you may be a expert in knitting, but you need a lesson or two about customer service and sales. I will say this about my experience - it has given me incentive to check out some of the other yarn shops in the city.
