  • I only saw good reviews for this vet online, which led me to believe we would have a good experience, but we did not. We took in/rescued a pregnant cat, and we took her to Dr. Koncal who confirmed her pregnancy. He said it would be 2-4 weeks and she'd have the kittens. We waited patiently and one day we noticed a little spot on her back, so I took her in (I had not taken her in for the initial appointment). He came in, felt her tummy and just said "the kittens have been aborted." Uhhh what?? ok? Why? What happened? Is there something wrong? He basically blew off my questions and didn't give any explanations, other than saying "it could be a number of things". He proceeded to tell me that they needed to take blood. Ok, cool, sounds like a good idea. Of course the kitty was being ornery, and he told me he'd have to tranquilize her. Ok, sounds good. HOWEVER, I assumed tranquilize meant she would fall asleep, NOPE. Basically the tranquilizer paralyzed her and she was terrified, and when the first tranq didn't do it, he gave her a second one. TWO doses of tranquilizer for the TINIEST cat ever. This is the best part, in her struggle, she fell off the vet table and he laughed out loud, and when I jumped to the ground he told me to leave her be. (uhhh wtf?) As he is doing all of this, I am trying to ask questions and he is being 100% non-communicative, which was extremely frustrating. He tested her for all of the appropriate things and we were all set, and I go to pay and she tells me two eighty seven....and I'm like two hundred and eighty seven dollars?? There was absolutely no indication of any of the costs while he was performing the procedures. It would have been nice if he had kept me abreast of the costs as we were progressing through the appointment. I am totally fine paying for it, but he did not really give me any indication as to what I was actually paying for (his new boat probs). To top it off, I hand the lady my credit card and it gets denied (because my credit card co. thought they were protecting me from fraud-neat story), which she was just delightful. There is nothing better than being shamed for a fraud alert by a lady in cat scrubs. I would absolutely never take another pet back here. If you are looking for a good vet check out Pet Guards in Cuyahoga Falls http://www.petguards.com/ They are always friendly and while they are not a traditional vet I have never had a poor experience there with any of their staff. Believe me, you will find a better vet anywhere. If you want a warm, kind vet that will openly communicate with you about the health of your animal, this is not your guy. He is a non-communicative creep and his staff is no better.
