In life one of the many pleasures for people is dessert. In the province of a Quebec I have made the observation the last 10 years living here that Quebeckers in general are big fans of dessert. For me dessert is not so much of a necessity but rather once in a while experience. However when I crave dessert I turn for something above average and of high quality. I'm not the kind to go in the packaged cookies section of a grocery store. I consider Chips Ahoy, Vachon, Little Debbie's, Joe Louis and all that mass produced dessert in the grocery store complete and utter chemical garbage.
Back to Boulangerie Roma I'd consider this the kind of place in which I would frequent for dessert. A Boulanger who understands the art of simple cookies, pastries and sweet delights are the stuff in which you can close your eyes, POP one in your mouth and think your mind is smiling!
My visit I had a simple cannoli after dinner down the street. These special little tubes with cream are a Montreal competition of which Italian Boulangerie can do a better version. I don't profess to be an expert on these or know a good one from a very exceptional one but it tasted delicious to me. Maybe I need someone who knows more to explain what makes a heavenly cannoli.
Also offered was a huge selection of Italian style cookies. Also they had prepared pizza to go which would make for an awesome meal.
Need to come back and stock up for a party or pig out sweet fest.
