  • I am very displeased with the billing for my 2017 mammogram and understand why others have posted that they feel scammed. I have had my mammograms at this location for the last several years. I was seen in November and have received 2 different statements totaling 167.00. I was made aware that my insurance might not cover the 3D mammogram and that an additional charge might be incurred. I can find no adequate explanation for the 2 separate bills I've received...one for 75.00 that indicates it is a "facility charge" for the date of service and one for 92.00 with a provider's name I've never even heard of. HonorHealth provides a list of "average charges" on their website for various services they provide, including ultrasounds and x-ray services; however, I could not find any information on charges for mammograms. I did find that one can request a quote for this service by submitting personal identifiers and health insurance information. This is a basic service and one that this health system could easily list charges for, including any ADDITIONAL charges one might incur, just as they do for many other outpatient and specialty services. I provided my doctors order for the mammogram and my health insurance provider well in advance of this mammogram. I find it very inefficient and tedious that this facility had all of that information prior to my appointment and could not let me know that THEY have scheduled a provider who does not accept my insurance plan. I went ahead and paid the charges, but am extremely unhappy with this facility and health system. Patients are at their mercy...I don't schedule or hire the providers they use to provide their services and would have NO way of knowing which providers - or even how many - I'm going to be billed for services after the fact. Armed with this information, I will be very selective about all future non-emergency healthcare choices. What a mess...and we wonder why health insurance is so high in this country!
