| - Decided to stop here during a trip to Phoenix because they made the "Top 50 Restaurants in Arizona" list on one of their major magazines out there. (It's apparently a weird bar-restaurant sisterhood thing, but we tried the dishes mentioned in the mag, so we were definitely at the right place).
To start, we got the roasted garlic plate, which was massive. Could easily feed 2-3 people. The server explained the dish as he broke down the elephant garlic, then we got to feastin' on bread, cheese, peppers and, of course, garlic. Taste-wise, it lived up to the hype and was the favorite part of the meal for multiple people in our party.
We also got the house salad (basic, but good) and the Chimayo Chicken (stuffed with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and cheese). Overall, really good, but the namesake GCP (Green Chile Potato) was disappointing and the carrots were underdone. I sampled the "gumbo" as well, which is nothing at all like a gumbo. It's basically jambalaya pasta.
The décor/ambiance is outstanding and the service is adequate. Would I say they're Top 50 in Arizona? Not sure, but they're definitely a high-quality restaurant/bar and worth visiting for the garlic plate alone. Try 'em out!
