| - I read reviews beforehand and had high expectations going here , but don't let all these reviews fool you- I left this place feeling uncomfortable and unsatisfied.
I don't ever write reviews, but after going to a lot of different spa clinic all over Toronto, I felt compelled to share my experience here.
I purchased a voucher for two facials to use at Anti Aging on Groupon, thinking it was a great deal and the reviews online seemed generally positive.
My first experience is when I first called into make an appointment, a man picked up and he was very unprofessional and had a lot of attitude when I tried to work with him to schedule a time for me to come in. When I told him I had a groupon voucher I wanted to use, he became even more irate over the phone and when I couldn't pull up my groupon voucher number right away his patience ran out, and he told me to call him back when I had it- very rudely.
so when I went in for my actual appointment, I didn't even have a chance to take off my coat before I was shuffled into a small enclosed room to fill out the 'intake form' .
They didn't ask me if I wanted to take my coat off, if I wanted some water , etc. Nothing. Perhaps, I'm just accustomed to great hospitality when I walk into a spa for the full Spa experience but I digress.
So as I'm filling out this form, the same man I suspect that took my call earlier in the week, walked into the room to upsell me immediately.
I had small acne scarring on my face and he right away was pitching me all kinds of services that had nothing to do with the facial that I came in for. Also, he didn't identify or introduce himself as a Dermatologist or even a medical esthetician- anyone that would have the educational or professional capacity to be addressing any of my skin concerns. I think he was just the store owner, but again, I don't know because he never introduced himself.
So this 'consultation' that I was under the impression, based on the groupon voucher, that I would be receiving before my treatment was just a chance for them to pitch me on their services... I found this super unprofessional and felt uncomfortable the rest of my time there.
On that same note, during this 'consultation', I thought they would walk me through the procedure I purchased (bought a groupon and it was a choice between microdermabrasion or chemical peel) but did not really provide any information, just asked me which one I wanted...
The only reason I gave this place a 1 star was the Esthetician herself was really pleasant was unlike this man, was not trying to upsell me on anything, and seemed quite knowledgeable.
Now as I was leaving, mind you this clinic is VERY small, that same man, the receptionist, AND the Esthetician all were hovering by the desk as I was paying to leave. This made for a very uncomfortable exit, as I wanted to leave her a tip but I'm used to doing something like that discreetly so I found it extremely weird that she was right next to me the whole time and it made me feel very uncomfortable.
I think the staff here lacks a certain professional etiquette that doesn't make for a warm or an inviting environment.
And I understand that someone that has a groupon voucher may not be the most profitable customer for your business but I would think that ensuring that even those customer are having a great first experience would be important in terms of generating recurring business.
I would not recommend this place, not even for the price. I bought a two pack and will not be going back for the second one.
