PROS: FREE, Interesting, decent-sized collection
CONS: Collection doesn't rotate very often
The one thing I really like about the Chazen is that it's low-commitment. Since it's free, you can stay as long and as little as you want, and the space itself is nice and well-ventilated. You won't get that stuffy feeling like from many of the larger museums. It's a good spot to visit when you want some artistic inspiration in your life, you don't want to traverse very far, or if you have folks visiting in the winter and you don't know where to take them. Plus, you can stroll over and get some ice cream afterwards from the Union. It's one of Madison's most underrated gems.
