This is the closest Metro location to my home so it's my principle grocery store. The good: it's pretty big, open 24 hours and has a good selection plus one of the better meat departments of all Metro's around. They give rain checks and accept Air Miles (woohoo) like all the other Metro's and prices are in line for a typical downtown grocer.. It would get a higher rating if they weren't always sold out of weekly flyer specials as well as some popular products (like my Biobest yogurt). They also discount their bagels by packaging them in bundles at the end of every night and not expired so a good deal if you're going late.
The bad: check the expiry dates cos they're often sitting past the "best before" dates and the staff don't remove them. Often sold out of specials due to the Ryerson students nearby so I'm always getting rain checks (their service desk closes at 9 PM). Their staffing is a bit low in the late evenings (I once had a lineup of 15 people with only one cashier at midnight... happened a few times as people were leaving out of frustration walking away). The year round homeless guys that sit outside are harmless but annoying when they're inside the vestibule and smell like skunk. Needs better security. Front Street Metro is nicer but it's also the farthest of the 3 Metro's by my home. 3 stars for this one.
