I have been taking my 2 shelties to Sycamore Animal Clinic since they were about 6 weeks old. I was immediately impressed with "Dr. Angela" Sokoloff. I have had dogs for much of my life, but I have never seen a vet sit on the floor and love the animals the way that she does. Most vets, though kind and professional, put the animals on a table and do a perfunctory exam. Not Dr. Angela. She bonds with the animals-and their owners, spending plenty of time talking to them, examining, asking questions, while verbally explaining everything she does and sees. She is so good at giving vaccines, that neither the dogs nor owners quite notice she has completed it. Other reasons why I prefer her- in my experience she doesn't give a lot of vaccines at once. She doesn't recommend advanced risky medications or surgeries that may be unnecessary. In contrast to some other vets, I don't get the impression that she recommends expensive procedures/meds to get the money. I trust her to put the well-being of the animals first. She takes time to provide special printouts with any recommended products (for ex. today-her preferred and most effective dental "chews" -suggesting that I could order on Amazon-and anti-bacterial soap and vinegar for itchiness (as opposed to antibiotics.) She once swabbed their cheeks for me and sent the specimens to Washington University for specialized genetic testing-I paid the University-but she wouldn't charge me. Also-the other staff-from the receptionists-to the assistants-are all very warm, friendly to customers upon entering-and warm to the dogs. In fact-when I told my dogs this morning that we were going to see Dr. Angela-they became very happy and excited! I highly recommend this vet and clinic.
