This was a great beginners hike. We had been wanting to come out to Mt. Charleston for a while after getting a little tired of our usual hikes at Red Rock.
The trailhead had ample parking. We arrived around 8am on a Saturday and there was only a handful of other cars in the lot.
The trail starts somewhat flat through the canyon and eventually leads to some switchbacks that go up the North canyon "wall" (more of a hillside than wall).
Including time relaxing at the top near the falls, our roundtrip travel time was a little over 2 hours. It isn't exactly for most kids, but a six year old was able to make the trip (was carried at times).
We saw a couple of deers on the hike. The trees provide a good amount of shade without completely covering the views. In September, the waterfall had a little bit of trickle and there was a fair bit of ice on the rock face.
