| - I always love the Carolina Renaissance Festival, though I don't make it every year (so when I do go, it's a treat). This year, they had a new stage (the Edgeworth Stage), but everything else was pretty much as I remember it from my last visit a couple of years ago. Everyone is so friendly and festive, and the acts are awesome so I'm giving the Festival 5 stars, but I want to mention these caveats:
1) The drive into the parking area requires more patience than I apparently have. It doesn't matter what time you get here, you wind along narrow, muddy, gravely paths with hundreds/thousands (a lot anyway) of fellow fair goers for the opportunity to park out in the grass far, far from the entrance. The parking attendants are pretty decent all things considering (has to be the most boring job ever).
2) Please invest in some 21st century decent WiFi. The merchants and their credit card transactions would be grateful.
3) Port-a-potties. A necessary evil, but ick.
4) Wine and beer sales... I bet exclusive dance clubs clubs in Russia are easier to get into and get a drink than it is here to get a measly 4-5 ounce glass (plastic cup) of wine. The looooooonnngggg... slooooooowwww... lines never quit, the limitations on no drink in your hand before you are allowed to make a new purchase bug me, only one drink allowed per person despite proving you are of age mean revolving waits in line, the fairly cranky vendors make me feel like THEY need to drink something... it's just a ridiculous ordeal.
I'll keep coming back anyway. It's a lot of (sober, not for lack of trying) fun!!!
