| - Made an online appointment for Saturday 12/2/17 at 12:30 and checked the box online for flat tire repair. Called my Tire Hazard Warranty company to ask proper procedure first--purchased with brand new tire install in June 2017 from dealership--dealership is closed on Saturdays. Warranty company said I can go anywhere--please have NTB call us to verify it is a covered expense/damage to tire--and we will approve and work with them. Upon my arrival to NTB--guy asked me for keys to get information on car--I assume milage, vin, etc. Came inside and asked me where the hole was (nail in tire). I told him dead center of tire and between the E and A in Year (GoodYear tires). I pulled out my warranty paperwork and said they ask that you call and let them know what the problem is when you see tire and estimate. AAA came out and put on the spare tire, the tire with hole was in back of my car--NTB never even looked at the flat tire--When I told him about the warranty, he refused to service me/my car/tire. He said he does not deal with them. I said, I was told I could go anywhere--they want to confirm with you, it is a nail or a covered expense and estimate...I can call them and you just need to talk with them. He said no. Says he does this all the time and does not want to deal with warranty. ???? He then said he is not waiting days to be paid. I told him I would be paying him--the warranty company said they would pay him in 48 hours direct deposit or if I pay him, they will reimburse me. He said no. I said...I will pay you--no open tickets for repair orders. He again, said he does this all the time and knows how it works. I said...I am confused, I am offering to pay you--you just need to call the warranty company and probably tell them...it is a nail hole or nail...it can be fixed (prove I am not lying) and tell them what the repair cost will be--and I will pay you cash--He said that is not how it works.
???? I told him it does work that way if I am paying him. The company will reimburse me with a check and that I did call and confirm this with them prior to making an online appointment. He said he would fix it but he is not talking with them and I could do that or go elsewhere. I chose to go elsewhere simply because even though no one was yelling or upset, I no longer felt this was a reliable place. I felt they were trying to rip off the warranty company. He told me he does not even carry that tire in stock. I told him, AAA guy said it can be fixed, no new tire needed....and if he wanted to look at the tire he could probably see that or know if that was true --he did not and would not.
Simple repair of flat tire--I was told basically best to go elsewhere. I did that because again, if I paid him to repair the tire--what was it going to cost? And if it would be a normal $50 or $100 repair--not sure what tire repairs cost...but say $50 and he charged me $100 I would have paid...but if warranty company said it should be $50 and therefore we will reimburse you $50 not the $100 they charged, then I would be out $50. So for NTB not to even call....implied rip off....not being honest. Could not be bothered to call...and they were not busy!! But I lost lots of time on a Saturday as had to go elsewhere--
But--to make one phone call to make sure estimate was inline with damage/repair and he cannot be bothered!?? Wow.
A friend told me later, NTB cannot be bothered with repairing someone else's warranty tires...they only want to fix it if you bought from them! I chose them because--tires are their speciality I thought?
I will never use this NTB for anything--ever! Not an oil change, never to purchase next set of tires...no matter if they are even less expensive. I called warranty company back and told her what happened...they were shocked. Said never had this problem before -- might be this particular store....or area/Pittsburgh...I do not know--she said it is not a high $$ item so probably could not be bothered with warranty repair. Thanks NTB for nothing...woman with flat tire....refused to fix.
AAA--gets above and beyond 5 stars for changing completely flat tire and giving me advice on my full size spare--Excellent service from M and M AAA service--
Not to NTB--
