| - My wife and I recently went to the House to celebrate our anniversary. After reading other reviews, we were looking for a place with good food and a romantic atmosphere, and the House did not disappoint! We were a bit nervous about the service because there was a special event going on (who gets married on a Tuesday night), but our service was fantastic. Our server, Megan, was very pleasant, answered our questions about food and wine with excellent knowledge, and could not have been better.
As far as the food is concerned, we enjoyed the fried arancini appetizer. It was tasty and the portions, initially appearing a bit small, were actually perfect for us to share. We both had the field green salad, which was good. My wife ordered the gnocchi and raved about it, saying it took her back to her childhood in Brooklyn. I ordered the NY strip and it was cooked perfectly. I found it to be a bit heavy on pepper and a little fatty, but that didn't keep me from eating all of it. We chose not to have dessert as we were headed elsewhere for dessert.
So, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Our only complaint (and the reason that we gave it four instead of five stars), was that there was no mention of our anniversary. I specified that we would be spending our anniversary dinner there when making the reservation, and nothing! Granted, it did not ruin the evening, but most restaurants appreciate you spending special occasions with them, and often throw in a little dessert or something for the celebration. If the House had just done something little, it would be a five star rating for sure!
