  • The Southern Olive is a welcome addition to the Indian Land area. In a land where everything "Nice" i.e. restaurants, shops, bakeries, pizza etc....is across the border, the Southern Olive brings a hint of class along with it. Walking in, it's not what you'd expect. The gourmet olive oil selection is awesome and ripe for the sampling. "Have a taste, buy a case" is a common phrase I use and that's what I see happening here. You don't know how much you'll like high quality gourmet olive oil until you take a shot of it and savor the experience. Next, they have gourmet pastas, coffee, trinkets and drinks. My dear sweet daughter has celiac disease and we struggle to find good, quality baked goods outside of making them ourselves. The Southern Olive has an answer. In house, gourmet baked goods that are gluten free. I spent some time speaking with Amanda the owner. As others have stated she spent a tremendous amount of time speaking to me about her process and how she bakes. True passion for her craft was apparent. She gave my daughter multiple samples and solidified a customer based on a great experience. Blood orange chocolate cake (gluten free), Lime cupcakes with cherry icing, some sort of loaf that didn't last 2 minutes once we got home all gluten free. She also put some gluten free "fancy" pasta in a coffee cup for us to take home and taste. Oh, and she makes smoothies. Wonderful, all natural, no corn syrup, no color smoothies. She had some extra from making someone else's order and put it in a cup for us to try. It was DELICIOUS. One more thing, the prices are crazy reasonable. Most of the time people gouge on gluten free and prey on peoples desire to find good quality baked goods. We walked out there with 2 bakes items for under $5.00 and the fact that it was good, wholesome ingredients is a wonderful thing. I am impressed with this shop and hope the word gets out and this business thrives. We'll be back and will definitely tell our friends. Great work, Amanda welcome to the area!
