The Good: Going to the Saturday market, expect to be able to pick up everything at one go! The first thing I did was get a coffee and an apple turnover downstairs at the South building. I then proceeded to do a circle around each of the buildings to see what they had and compare prices. Only on Saturdays does the North Building open too and its filled with fresh produce. I got a HUGE bunch of kale for only $2. A lot better deal than the one I got at Wychwood's last week which was $3 for half the size. I also got a wonderfully beautiful bouquet of flowers for $10 at one of the vendors just outside the building.
The South Building is great for meat. There's at least 6 different meat shops so do a bit of price comparing before buying and know what you want. I had to sit down with my friend for 15 minutes b/c I couldn't decide on what to buy since everything looked so good.
You can think about getting lunch here too. Great reviews for Buster's Sea Cove. I usually skip it because there's a lot of taste testing at the shops. A lot of dried meats, jams, breads, and such that can fill you up if you've had breakfast already.
The Bad: It can get very busy and most of the vendors in the North Building are already closing up by 2pm. The South building will usually be open till around 5pm, but most of the good fresh stuff is gone by then. If you don't like crowds, know what you want so you can go straight in and just make your purchases because you can easily spend 2 hours there.
The Overall: Probably one of the best "farmer's markets" in town. It's your one stop shop and there's a Metro just down the street if you're missing anything that doesnt' need to be fresh. Even as a tourist, there's a lot of photo ops here too.
Revisit: It's the place I'll be going to from now on when I have my Saturday night dinners for guests. Thanksgiving weekend will be crazy for sure but it'll be worth it. I definitely suggest you get there early because even at 10am this past weekend, North and South buildings were already full of people.
