Great place to learn to fix your own bicycle! It's a no-frills deal, seems entirely run by volunteers. The volunteers seem friendly and are very helpful. The only downside is that the fans in the waiting area don't do much more than stir the air weakly ... On a hot day, if you have to wait, it's almost cooler outdoors. :)
As a DIY novice, it took me an hour to fix something that an experienced person would probably have done in ten minutes, but Dan was patient and thorough, and I think he got a kick out of how excited I was to be able to actually take apart bits of my bike and put it back together.
It's funded by donations, I'd recommend being generous ... If they let you! I was surprised when the gentleman manning the counter gently but firmly returned more than half my planned donation.
Definitely my new go-to bike fix place! I just wish I'd checked them out when I originally noticed the store a couple of years ago!
By the way, if you're into opera at all, strike up a conversation with Dawn if she's around ... she's a lot of fun to chat with!
