  • Pretty lousy. Got a great Hotwire deal, but when I arrived to pick up the car, they had the "estimated total" significantly higher priced with tons of optionals that I didn't want. But they told me they are only estimates and will not be charged. I inquired about extending the rental, and they told me "Oh, it's easy! Just call the number listed on the rental agreement". A few days later, I called the number to extend the rental, only to be told that it has to be done at a Thrifty office. They directed me to the only office in that city, which was already closed. I called back again twice and eventually someone was able to extend it for me. They confirmed that I would be charged the same daily rate I had originally. When I came back to Toronto to return the car, I was somewhat surprised to see that the total was about 7x more than the original quoted price, even though I only extended the rental from 3 days to 7 days. I inquired about the additional fees ("premium location fee", "weekend rate", etc.) and they told me there was no mistake.
