| - I originally booked this place for a bachelorette party due to it's location, recommendations, and the evening reception. Carefully read through TripAdvisor and settled on this place, which was slightly more expensive than nearby hotels. I called about a week ahead of time and asked about checking in early. I was told to call the day before, but that there would probably be no problem. I was also informed of the Mellon Parking Garage across the street, where weekend rate was $5 opposed to $37 valet parking through hotel. Awesome. I called the day before and was told that they were booked on Friday night and to check when I arrived at the hotel, as it would "depend on if the room was cleaned early enough" for us to check in early. We arrived around 12:30p and asked if checking in early was an option. The staff, who appeared openly frustrated, basically told us no before launching into excuses. Really, it was OK, I was just planning to drop off my luggage and come back later. We were told our room would be ready around 4p, which was perfect for us to visit the Pittsburgh Winery at the Strip and return, check-in, get ready, attend the well-reviewed hotel reception, and attend our 8p dinner reservations. We arrived around 4:15p and were told that our room was "Not ready", by the same frustrated woman at the front desk. We were informed to take a seat by her much more pleasant counterpart. By 4:30p, we were offered appetizers. By 5p, we asked again, explaining we had reservations and also wanted to attend the reception. At 5:15p, we were told someone was personally going to speak to Housekeeping (as it was their fault) as our room was STILL not done. We were offered alcoholic beverages, which the bride took, but the rest of the party did not, since we needed to get ready. By 5:30-6p (after the reception started), we were able to check in. The room was spacious with 2 King BRs and 1.5 baths and an open living area with pull out couch. By the time we got ready, the reception was over, which was a total disappointment. We had a good night and I scored my own King bed. The caveat? I could hear the elevator going up and down all. night. long. I got up around 8a for the "made to order" breakfast the next day. There was no seating, no cutlery, and a lot of the food was out. The lines were so long, especially the MTO line. We found a seat, and scraped together some cutlery to share at our table with two pepper shakers, though one was distinctly meant to be a salt shaker. The buffet was really so-so. Not something I would expect from this hotel. There were generic bacon and sausage links as well as what looked like Egg Beaters scramble. Cereal was sugary (Lucky Charms, etc), and beverages were juices from a machine, as coffee was completely out. There were scones and muffins that were also basic. The fruit was hard and not entirely ripe--but the healthiest options. When I checked out, I mentioned the discount the more pleasant clerk offered us when we finally checked in, which it appears was not noted to our account. The woman who checked me out informed me, "I can do $50". A this point, I was frustrated, hungry, and ready to get the hell out of there $300/one night poorer. I'm not sure if I would consider staying here again.
