Philadelphia in Canada? I don't know but they sure do take their donuts seriously in this town, almost as seriously as Philadelphians take their cheese steaks.
I was looking for a fast coffee and donut and decided to try this Tim Horton's. These damn things are everywhere in Toronto, even more pervasive than McDonald's in the Chicago area, so I was definitely curious. Apparently this "ugly American" annoyed our friends up north. They got a little peeved when I didn't I didn't bark out an order number and use the proper jargon for the kind of coffee I want. But the lady on the counter felt sorry for me and helped me through it. Some of the customers were kind of grumbling though.
If you're from south of the border, try to get a few natives to help you properly order from Tim Horton's. That way you'll avoid getting the Philadelphia treatment from some of the servers or customers.
By the way, coffee was good and apple fritter hit the spot.
