| - DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STEALERSHIP!!!
Back in March or April I had called this place inquiring about the new Civic Type-R (CTR). I had left my information to be called at a later time when it would be closer to arrival. I have done my research as I am an avid Honda owner.
I get a call from a salesman. His name was Dino, I believe. He tells me that the CTR will be arriving in one or two weeks. I tell him great, and asked him to tell me more. He was trying to convince me that it is limited production with a total of 1000 units. In my head, I know that the US will be allocated 6000 units by the end of the year. He tells me the first CTR #00001 was sold for $200,000. This was true as the car was donated by Honda to a leukemia charity. Ok, he is trying to sell me... that is what they are supposed to do.
We get to the price. He tells me that the car will be sold in auction-style form with a starting bid of $60,000. Note that the MSRP with destination fee is $34,775. That is like a 90% markup!!! This car is not a limited production car. I own an Integra Type-R, and that model was limited to less than the amount of CTRs allocated to the US in its first year, in the four years of production of the ITR in the US. Tempe Honda is offering the same CTR for MSRP plus mandatory unnecessary accessories.
For the reason I am not buying the CTR at Tempe Honda, I politely tell the salesman that I will be waiting for the 2018 model. Honda has released a statement that the CTR will be made in different variants in the future; meaning the 2017 model will not be the only model year. The salesman asks me what do I mean about waiting until 2018. As I try to explain, he hangs up on me!!! How rude is this?
First of all, please educate your sales staff. Know your shit and don't pass on false information to make a sale. Honesty goes a long way. I know it is a free market and people can try to sell a loaf of bread for $100 if they want. But good luck selling a Civic for $60,000. Be courteous to your consumers, we keep you in business and feed your families. For the above reasons, I will never do business with this stealership.
