Traveled to Pittsburgh with a group for a conference. On Wednesday afternoon, we ended up with a group of 8 looking for a place for dinner. Sonoma Grille was able to accommodate our needs with a 7:30 pm reservation. I had actually eaten there on a previous trip and enjoyed it so I had an idea of what to expect.
The restaurant is nice and fairly large. They have an inviting bar/lounge area that opens to the street.
The menu is somewhat limited as far as main courses, but they have plentiful tapas, appetizers and other small plates. The wine list is extensive and they have a (very) full bar.
The service was attentive and the food was very good. Prices are reasonable for a downtown restaurant. All in, we were around $75 per person for dinner and drinks. My only qualm is that when we ordered, they were out of New York Steak (which is the only steak on the menu). I substituted the pork chop, but running out of a staple like steak at 7:30 seemed odd to me.
Nonetheless, the food, drink, service and overall experience rates 4 stars from me.
