After reading the rave reviews here on Yelp, I was eager to order a coffee. I had 30 minutes between meetings and walked the five blocks to the location only to find they had new hours and closed at 3pm, not 4pm. In no position to remain decaffeinated, I stopped elsewhere on my way back to the office.
As a "tried and true" coffee lover, I resolved to catch them the very next day at an earlier time. I ordered a cafe au lait and found that it was nothing special. The coffee flavor was no different than any other run of the mill coffee shop in Pittsburgh (weak in character with a hint of musty autumn leaves and cheap plastic sippy cup) and the service was average. In fact, the coffee was pumped out of a carafe which is always off-putting for me when I visit a dedicated "coffee shop". In the end, Simpatico is not worth the extra detour from my usual haunt.
2017- oh look, they've gone out of business?
