| - I reserved my car because it was, quite simply, the cheapest. Upon my arrival, I quickly found out why.
At the car rental building, only one company had a line. Dollar. And not just a line, a line of AT LEAST 100 people. Hoping it would go fast, we got in line. About 2 minutes later, an older woman off to the side yells "he's across the goal line, TOUCHDOWN. Only an hour and a half!"
What the??
I left my son in line, walked over to Enterprise, and in less than 5 minutes walked away with a car. It was a smaller car than we'd reserved from Dollar, but the same price. My son? He'd only moved forward in line 2 feet, and that was only because people were pressing forward, not because anyone had successfully rented a car.
Why, for the love of all that is good, can Dollar not do the ONE thing they are in business for, rent cars? Why do they only have 2 agents and a line 100 people deep? Why would they rather see their customers flee to their competitors?
Next time, I'll skip the Dollar line and head straight to Enterprise. It was nice to feel appreciated there. I suppose I should have read the reviews here first.
