| - I love Sushi Roku. A friend and I decided to get lunch here one day because we didn't want to fall pit to the "we're in Vegas, let's have buffet" like we did the time before. I had had Sushi Roku one time a couple years ago, but wanted to try it again.
We were promptly greeted and sat at the sushi bar. The chef was great. I threw out a couple suggestions of what I like, but wanted to have his recommendation as to what I should have. Although they didn't have ankimo this time, he did recommend a few other dishes.
The tako roll was really tasty, but the nigiri I had was by far better. The katsuo was one of the best preparations I've had in a very long time, light sauce and onion, perfect! Katsuo is my favorite fish, and actually one of the cheaper ones. It wasn't even on the menu here, but he had it! =) I next wanted to have a full aji (i.e. sashimi, nigiri, and then the filet is deep-fried), but the aji was already filleted, so I decided to just have a couple pieces seared. The next was a great recommendation of saiko sake. Saiko sake is what the Japanese consider to be the best salmon in the world; this salmon comes from New Zealand. I normally don't care for fattier fish, but this was exquisite.
I admit the food here is a little pricey, so make sure to get the good stuff. If you want California rolls go somewhere else. If you want to be adventurous and have high-quality sushi, this is the spot.
