| - What a wonderful hotel! I was very surprised as to the level of service we received. From the outstanding dining staff who greeted us with smiles, expedient service and a level of excellence typical of 5 star hotels to the front desk staff as well as our maid who gladly accommodated our various requests, our experience was extraordinary. Breakfast was fantastic. Being health-oriented people we loved the super-food selections that included blueberries, smoothie "shots," smoked salmon, bran muffins and excellent omelets that were cooked to perfection. The dining room is bright and cheerful during the day that easily converts into a bar and evening destination for many of the guests.
Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The bed was a "heavenly" experience where we languished a bit past our alarm in the mornings as well as gladly took naps after our long walking excursions throughout Montreal. Of course one has the option to buy the fabulous linens, yet the price wasn't exactly in our budget or we would have gladly done so! And the shower was fantastic along with the fragrantly fresh soaps and various complimentary lotions typically standard for Starwood properties.
We also found the rest of the hotel to be immaculately clean, the fitness center outfitted with well-maintained equipment and the swimming pool area was a great place for a daily dip. We loved the large hot tub as well as the cold plunge. The main swimming pool is smaller than the website photos imply so no real swim training can occur here, yet we had fun taking pictures through the glass bottom while standing in the car valet area below. The images are such a novelty and they continue to glean many "likes" on our Facebook pages! :-)
Regarding getting around Montreal, we loved that the metro was directly across the street, below the convention center. Hopping on the metro to visit the markets of Jean Talon, shopping areas, the biosphere and even a trip to the Olympic stadium was quick and easy.
Even though I have given this hotel a 5 star rating I have to mention just one thing that they should consider changing and that is their television set up. The remotes are very finicky and we experienced a great deal of frustration even changing channels, selecting movies and turning the TV on and off! Yet, when we called the front desk, within minutes someone was in our room setting up the menu in English and giving us a short tutorial in how to have a better experience. Do we wish there were more channels in English? Yes & No. After all we were in a primarily French-speaking city. However, it would have been nice to have a few more stations that where we could watch programs even with English subtitles.
I highly recommend this property and would gladly stay here in the future!
