  • I've been renovating my house for a few months so I've been in and out of Home Depot a lot. Most of the workers now know my name and everyone is always going above and beyond to help me. I've never felt ripped off by their service until today. I am installing a new sliding patio door in my living room and purchased it online at the store. I paid $50 to have them come measure so I knew what size to order and they said I would get that $50 deducted from the installation cost. The installation cost of the door was $399. What they don't tell you is that the installers will charge you on top of the installation. They charge an extra $50 for the seal kit (so really, you don't get your $50 back for the measuring fee), another $112 to peel back the stucco on my door and adjust the frame, plus a bunch of other little things that were $10-$12 to fix each. When all over, the installation was NOT $399 but over $600 when it was all said and done. My $800 sliding door turned into a $2,000 project. Purchase doors here but do not let them do the installation. Professional installers, more like professional scammers.
