  • If there was an option to put negative stars for this poorly run, no class business with terrible ethics, I would have done so. After searching Yelp for a good place to have my car serviced, and saw fairly good reviews for Family Auto, my husband and I decided to take our car in to find out why it the steering wheel was shaking so much. Matt, the mechanic on site said he'd look at it for a charge of $90.00, (there are others which offer a free inspection however). We said yes, only to find out his diagnosis was totally off. Matt said it was the steering bars, that they were worn and needed to be replaced. We spoke to a rep at Mercedes later that day who said that no way this was the problem. Mercedes makes such quality cars, and in his 10 years experience, he never saw the steering bars go. His professional opinion without looking at the car was that he was 95% sure it was the tires. We ended up getting a flat tire on our way back from Sedona that weekend. And you could clearly see the tire was completely worn out from the insides. Easy to see if you looked under the car. This is total negligence on his part as a professional. How he could miss something like that is beyond me. We had all the tires replaced and the car is running smoothly now. We went to another mechanic and before we finished telling him the story he said that the problem was the tires. Matt claims he's not a tire expert, but the other mechanic knew without looking at the car and so did the rep at Mercerdes. My husband called the shop to tell them that the diagnosis was completely off and we wanted our money back. Matt passed the phone to his boss who raised his voice immediately. He said he was not giving the money back. He told my husband to bring the car in and if he was wrong he said he'd return the money....problem was he said he stood by his employees, and if they were right we owed another $90 for the second diagnosis! Not hard to figure out how they run their business. My husband told him that's not the way to talk to customers and run a business. My husband told him to keep his $90.00, and wished him good luck and hung up. We can't trust them to be honest so my husband and I decided not to go. We decided that Yelpers should know our experience with this company. Avoid this place at all cost!
