| - Wonderful to see a Canadian owned ,and operated business where the owners are hands on.The family owned business has been around since 1969,and I can see why as the owner worked with me to address a 21C retail environment shift for a bricks and mortar retailer.Online retail that directly competes with their traditional model where something like a hitch can be ordered and received in 2 business days.Leaving a consumer to install it themselves, ask their mechanic,or have a reasonably priced dealership do it since Hitch City chargers about $90 to do the install.Wanting to charge about $50 to unbox, assemble, and insert a bike rack into the hitch has me wanting to choose one of the aforementioned routes the next time I want to : purchase, and install a car accessory. Now that I've installed the bike rack. I know it involved sticking one end into the hitch, inserting 2 lock cylinders with 1 key,one bolt with 2 nuts to attach the mast to it,leaving 2 cradles, and 6 rubber straps that just attach without tools. For the uninitiated,it took all of 15 minutes to install the bike rack into the hitch, maybe. Given the vehicle I had them attach the hitch to required about 30 minutes to install,it leaves a bad impression to not install the bike rack. Also,Hitch City didn't inform [website,in person] customers about the applicable manufacturer cash rebate, that included a free accessory, equal to about $40 USD.
Other customers have complimented Hitch City for doing the "little things" that made their experience above par, unfortunate to see it's not the same for all customers.
Feeling 2.5 stars only for the polite staff who can't adjust pricing, yet didn't ask for approval;quick order placement, and product fulfillment.
