| - I left the same review on her other page, Cathy at 97 Scollard.
I bought a $39 Groupon for Golden Touch Medispa and was surprised that there are no reviews online for a place that claims to have 25yrs of experience. Then I realized -- she changed the name of her business to Golden Touch on Groupon so that people wouldn't see the bad reviews.
Once I found the reviews, I didn't want to lose the $40 goupon so, I cautiously went anyways: I just asked for wash, trim and basic blow out thinking, who can mess that up??
Well, Cathy can! She can't WASH OR CUT OR BRUSH HAIR! I've had my share of cuts that I didn't like, but this is different - she is spectacularly UNSKILLED! Beginner student stylists at Aveda do a 10000% better job.
1. The Wash.
I mentioned that my hair is dirty and needs a good wash. Getting my hair washed is my favourite part of going to the salon. But Cathy barely washed my hair once, half washed out the shampoo, (I thought, she'll probably shampoo again, but no), she loaded my hair with tons of conditioner and barely washed it out too.
Scariest part is that it didn't feel like someone who knows hair was touching my hair. She was sloppy... unskilled... she really didn't seem to care. A 10year-old could wash hair with more care. Embarrassingly half-assed, unprofessional job.
2. The trim.
I asked for an ich off of my shoulder-length hair and she took of 3. I didn't mind the short length (I actually want it shorter but didn't trust her to do it well). But it was cut unevenly.
When she was done, instead of asking me if I like it, if that's what I wanted, she said, "Excellent haircut!", as if trying to convince me. In the mirror I pointed out all the snippets that were an inch longer than the cut, and she aggressively said, "Yea, I cut it" and then she cut a hole in that area!!
3. Simple blow dry on chin-length hair.
SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO RUN A BRUSH THROUGH HAIR. It took her 5min to dig out a brush from a drawer of unkept, DIRTY-looking brushes, another 5min to to dig out a dryer and plug it in. (And she had ass in my face as she was bending over: white see-through pants, black thong). Utterly clueless about customer service.
She then tangled and dragged the brush through my hair. I always admire the ease with which stylists roll a brush through hair. None of that ease or skill here. I twitched and was in obvious pain as she tangled my hair, SCRATCHED and BURNED MY SCALP. IT'S BEEN A DAY AND MY SCALP STILL HURTS!!!!! When I told her that she's burning me, she chuckled. Seriously.
I thought my hair wasn't dry at the roots bec it was darker and heavy but it's because it was DIRTY BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WASH IT!!! UGH!!! I went home and had to wash my hair.
She should not be allowed to touch people's hair. I never write reviews; I signed up just to warn people about this awful place.
