  • I only ever review places that are terrible or awesome. This one is awful. Short version: Sold me a $200 item I was clearly on the fence about getting - ended up not being right, tried to exchange or return it (still not removed from the package) - turns out it was an "final sale" item and they didn't mention it & not marked anywhere, won't take it back. Full story: Originally bought a UV light for nails, but it was crappy, and so I wanted to return it, but I couldn't find the receipt. So I went to the store and asked what happens without the receipt, they said I could exchange it for something else in the store if I can't find it, but I have to return it within 3 weeks (I think it was) - so I decided to try to look some more at home so I could just get the return as there was nothing I really needed for $100 from there. Couldn't find it a week later and was leaving town, and needed to return it so it didn't go over the time limit (though I'm not sure how they'd actually know given I didn't have the receipt - but wanted to stay within it anyway). So I took it in, and tried to find something $100 or more that I would actually use. I was in a hurry because we were already late to leave town by a couple hours, so I thought I'd just pick something quick and go, and deal with it later if I had to. I had been planning on getting some clip in extensions anyway and noticed that they had some - so I went over there (and the girl who was friendly was helping me). They only had 18" in my color, and I was worried about them maybe being too short. I asked her if they have longer ones in this color, and she said not in stock. I debated for a second and decided they might work, and I'd just see if they could get me longer ones if not, so I bought them. She never told me it was a final sale, or I wouldn't have gotten them, because it was only a guess that I could make them work anyway. When I got to where we were going, I slid the insert out of the box (with the hair still secured in its package), and held it up to the side of my head in a mirror, and realized it was going to be too short by 3-4". I slid the insert back into the box without ever having removed the hair from its cardboard. When I got back to Calgary a week later, I took it back to Sally's and explained I picked it on an exchange and paid an extra $100, and they were too short and so I want to return them. A different girl from the previous time then tells me it's all sales final. So I ask to exchange them for longer ones instead - she tells me they don't have longer than that, and I can't exchange them. I point out they haven't been removed from the cardboard. Doesn't matter. I point out that nobody told me it was a final sale, it doesn't say so ANYWHERE on the receipt (despite talking about having x number of days on other items). She said that usually there's a sticker on the box, and shows me on the other ones - sure enough, there is a TINY sticker less than 1/4" in diameter on various places on the other boxes. I look and every one does have one. I pointed out that mine doesn't, though. And she smugly says, "yeah, but it could be removed" and I realize she's giving me a look that infers she thinks I'm trying to screw the store over or something - that I've done something bad. She wasn't unfriendly exactly, and she said she'd ask the manager, but I get the impression that that conversation will involve her opinion that I'm doing something dishonest. We'll see, but I'm pretty sure I just got screwed out of $200 I didn't even want to spend there in the first place, because the sales lady didn't point out it couldn't be returned even after hearing my questions about the length and seeing my hesitation at buying it in the first place.
